Most doors are worth repairing. Springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, openers and individual panels are all replaceable. Replacement makes financial sense when the panels are rusted through, multiple sections are damaged, or the repair bill starts approaching a meaningful share of a new door.

Usually a safety sensor issue or a down-force setting that is too sensitive. Sometimes it is a real obstruction, a worn roller binding in the track, or a door that has fallen out of balance. All four are quick to diagnose in person.

Keep the photo-eye sensors clean and aligned, run the auto-reverse test with a roll of paper towel on the floor, and listen for changes in noise. Avoid spraying lubricant on the track itself — the rollers need to roll, not slide.

Look at the springs above the door — a clean gap in the coil means a broken spring and the door should not be forced. Otherwise check that the opener has power, the wall button works, the photo-eye sensors at floor level are aligned and clean, and the door is not locked or disengaged from the trolley. If the door is heavy to lift by hand, stop and call.
